The striped kitten fairies are known for their sleepy dispositions. Predominantly male, they are most often seen yawning and stretching in the marigold patch. Still, I wouldn’t sneak up on one.

In the late spring, all the kitten fairies hatch at once, filling the garden with the sounds of beating wings and soft, plaintive mewling. They eat the ants off the peony buds and at night, they curl up together in massive purring piles to sleep.
